Jerstin Crosby, Toxic Green Mind (squared away), acrylic, spray paint on wood, 22.5 x 23.25 in, 2020

Exit Skeleton examines the desire to remain fully human in a connected world. The figurative elements in the work are fleeting, pushed to the margins of recognition and never fully realized. They stand in contrast against and combine with geometric patterns, architectural motifs and structures that represent something other than nature – maybe institutions, expanding fields of research, connected pathways, or perhaps β€œit all”.

Jerstin Crosby is an artist based in Chapel Hill, NC. He has exhibited at the Nasher Museum of Art, Speed Art Museum, Queens Museum, Cell Projects, Exit Art, the Mattress Factory, LUMP, and Kallio Kunsthalle Taidehalli in Helsinki. His solo exhibitions have been written about in publications such as Art Forum. Art Papers, Time Out London, and NPR Weekend Edition. He received an MFA from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
