" We think we’re thinking about someone else, but of course we’re just thinking about ourselves, but in a new way. And that’s not nothing."

Chris Pavlik is an artist currently residing in Germany. His paintings are explorations of place and time, be it the everyday occurrences of people long past, the swamps of Acadiana or the haunted ghost towns of yesteryear. Born into a highly mobile Army family, he has maintained his nomadic ways and lived and shown in Missouri, Washington, Idaho, Louisiana, and Washington, DC. He has shown at numerous galleries and museums, including the Hilliard Museum of Art in Lafayette, LA; the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, LA; Good Children Gallery in New Orleans, LA.

"There is a strange thing that happens when we see others through the lens of painting. Despite a distance and disconnect of time and space and association, we are able to feel, even if just a little, what it means to be someone else, even though we’re bound to be wrong, to misunderstand them. We think we’re thinking about someone else, but of course we’re just thinking about ourselves, but in a new way. And that’s not nothing."
