"Can't anything be a spectacle if you are looking close enough?"

Alezendria Decking (b. 1997) is a Brazilian-American artist raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, now living and working in Richmond, VA. She received her BFA in Painting with a minor in Art History from Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia in 2019.

Decking's work centers on quietly charged moments of everyday life — fleeting interactions, gestures, and expressions that often go unnoticed. Drawing from observation and memory, her paintings frame the ordinary as intimate and emotionally resonant, inviting viewers to slow down and look closely. Her paintings are guided by intuitive color relationships and cropped viewpoints that heighten emotional nuance and vulnerability. By isolating fragments of interaction, she emphasizes the quiet tension and intimacy present in both public and private spaces.

Decking has exhibited at YOWIE (Philadelphia), Ours (Richmond), Pamplemousse Gallery (Richmond), the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, and Little Berlin Gallery (Philadelphia), among others. Her work is held in private collections in California, New York, and Hong Kong.
